Zippo versus Bic

They seem cool, but they're JUNK! You have to constantly refuel it or it'll all dry up within a few days.
You never know when you're going to need fire, so I carried mine in a dedicated tiny pocket on my cargo pants. My birthday was just a week ago and when my loved ones presented a cake to me without lite candles, I figured I'd look cool lighting them with my zippo.
Kinda half-expected it wouldn't work. I'm throwing it out and sticking with an inexpensive RELIABLE butane lighter.

Was there a purpose to this thread? What the hell?

I'd only buy one if I were a chain smoker. overpriced coolness factor isn't worth it.

I have one. Attracts the eye if you know some tricks and sh*t. Good ice breaker for its price. :)

What the hell are you doing?

Big lighters are the premier lighters. These motherf**kers last a long time and you end up spending more money on zippo fluid in the long run.

Take weeks before I need to refill it...

fluid is cheap as...

zippo just scream white trash or biker.

>Big
Bic, you mongoloid.

They are awful, they look nice but that's about it.
They leave a horrible petrol like smell on everything and the flame is all over the place.
Just buy clipper. They are usually 70p and last forever.

It's Bic, motherf**ker

I'm a chain smoker, so i end up lighting it about 20 or so times a day. With that in mind, I only have to fill the thing once every 2 weeks at most. I have two canisters (one for home and one in the glovebox) the former i've had for 4 months and am only about 2/3 of the way through it. oh and it didn't cost me more than $2.50. Flints have to be changed out once a month, you can get a dispenser of like 6 or something for 75 cents.
I've seen bic lighters go as far as $1.50 and i've been more liable to lose them or get them pocketed from someone else, so in the long run it's been a novel investment. On the other hand i wouldn't ever want to light a bowl with a zippo.

White Bic or matches.

Never smoke weed with a zippo.
Just...don't.

Bic just makes quality sh*t that people use

wait what?
this is relevant to my interests, i have these serious questions:
1. if you held down a brand new jet lighter, how many seconds/minutes would it burn?
2. does it's fuel exhaust by any other means?
answer, broheem

I admit that this thread reminded me of the mighty Cristal.

Japanese friend just bought me one for my birthday. I smoke occasionally but not as much as a lot of smokers do. So far, it isn't bad and the cool factor is enough to make me like it.
Funny thing, though. I got her the exact same thing for her birthday.
OH. And the Japanese thing is relevant because she got me a Diamond fuel tank to go into the Zippo so it doesn't lose fuel as fast. :D

Clipper up in this bitch.

Why is there a discussion over f**king lighters. Fire is fire. It burns sh*t. There's no difference between a zippo and bic except one is hotter and ugly.

If you've read the thread instead of being ignorant you would know there is a difference, and it matters since there is a thread about it.

I think the Zippos are way more reliable than those refillable butane lighters (which are mostly junk, IMO). I've never had a problem with a Zippo drying out, myself, but then again, I smoke cigarettes, so I pay more attention to a lighter than you do, probably. Yes, you do have to keep them filled, but most importantly...you do NOT want to light it and keep it lit for longer than 10 seconds or so, or else the wick will start to get destroyed. The real reason why the Zippo is such a beloved instrument, however, is that when it is filled up, it will light ANYWHERE. Rain, sleet, snow, sunshine, wind...nothing stops a Zippo from lighting. It's an elegant and robust piece of technology that is perfect now and forever.

There is a HUGE difference. The Zippo uses a different fuel, which has a characteristic taste to it, sort of like barbecue lighter fluid. It's fine for lighting cigarettes, but you cannot use it really to smoke marijuana, which you can do with a Bic, which has no flavor to it. Also, a Bic won't light if it gets wet, or even a little moist, and a Zippo will pretty much light anywhere, anytime.

Does anyone else remove that annoying child resist thing on the bics.
I always do it. Just bend the two little metal bits at the top out, pull the thing off then close them again.
