How are you making legal money on the internet?

In this topic, we discuss methods of legitimately making money on the internet.
And by legitimately I mean anything that isn't a scam.

Of course by legitimate, you can't possibly mean easy because the two just don't hook up.
I used to make a load of money selling baseball cards on ebay. I'd buy them cheap at flea markets and yard sales. Mostly flea markets.
The trick is to know what sells and what doesn't. If you find a card that lists at $100 on a flea market table for $10, it doesn't mean sh*t if you can't resell it. You still lost $10.
I used to keep a list on my computer of what sells. Every Saturday morning before I went out (bright and early!) I'd memorize the big sellers and put the mediocre sellers into a list on my phone.
Haven't tried it yet this year, but the baseball season's still early. Last year was a down year, probably because of the economy. It was a lot of work but I enjoyed it because I love baseball and I like the cards.
Good luck OP. The trick is to find something you don't mind spending extra time with. Anything you make legitimate money at online is really going to work out to a pay scale of less than minimum wage when you look at it as an hourly thing. But hey, you don't have a boss and that's always a good thing.

I converted to a minimalist lifestyle. Sold all the sh*t in my room I don't use frequently -- DVDs, clothes, electronics, you goddamn name it. If I haven't used it at least once in the past 2 months, I sold it on eBay (or Craigslist) if it was worth anything.
Made about $800+ total in the past 3 months getting rid of sh*t.

Pot.

F**k sandals. By the way, I know "minimalist lifestyle" gives off the image of a hippie, but I'm far from that OR a hipster. Just a normalf** getting rid of sh*t he didn't need and made a good chunk of cash in the process.

Stock / forex trading. You should have good knowledge of the market you are trading in and some decent start-up capital though. I started trading full time 5 years ago(at this point i had a masters in finance and 3 years working experience as an analyst at an IB). I make more money than I did in banking and I work almost half the hours, and there is the added benefit of being able to travel where I want, when I want.

How would someone even start to learn how to do that kind of thing? Have you lost lots of money/how do you deal with that?

I'm not going into detail but I'll tell you it is defiantly possible to make a sh*t load of money on the Internet.
My suggestion would be to look into Affiliate Marketing. You can do SEO (Search Engine Optimization) which is basically creating a blog with good content, and get it ranked well on google. Or you can go the more common route which is PPC (Pay Per Click). This is basically paying a company such as Google, Facebook, Yahoo, Bing, MSN to place your ads on their website which literally gets you thousands of views. You link these people to a landing page MOST of the time which you create. You convince people to sign up (most the time leads i.e. signup to services is done through direct linking) or buy something.
All the knowledge you need is on the internet for FREE. Don't fall for websites telling you that you need to buy their product to learn what to do. Being in this industry I can tell you people that buy those are making people lots of money. Also, don't buy e-books.
A forum I can suggest for some beginning information is WickedFire. Research a sh*t load before you start. After about 2-4 weeks you should have enough knowledge assuming you already know the basics to web design and you spend time researching.
It's not uncommon for a newb to make $100 per day. Making your first dollar online is the hardest. Good luck.

*the people that are selling those are making a lot of money, you can't say the same thing for the people buying them
It's the same way with the 'Get Ripped in 4 Weeks' ads. Or Acai Berry. How many people have you ACTUALLY seen get ripped with that product?

How would someone even start to learn how to do that kind of thing? Have you lost lots of money/how do you deal with that?

Well, as I said, I went to uni and got work experience. It is NOT a quick and easy way to make money. Most people who do what I do lose everything they put in. That said, start with some basic book on investing(the book 'investments' by kanie / bodie / marcus is very popular for adviceanced undergrad / grad school. It contains lots of information and should be a good start. And yeah, I've lost quite a bit of money, but I have always made it back and then some. As of now my entire portfolio is worth $1.7M, I've had months losing 10%, which at the time was a little over $100000. Keep in mind that when I started trading I had quite a lot of money saved up already, and I already owned my own apartment and was debt-free. So I'm never risking anything I can't lose.

Yeah I had the same idea, even I don't know sh*t about how to invest I figured you'd have to keep a bottom of what you can openly invest and then rise it a bit higher if you make out ok.
Kind of a way to ensure that you're still fine financially even if you lose everything you invest, and a way to do that safely over a long period.
I wasn't even thinking of doing it until I got to zero debt or at least reasonable levels anyways.

In this topic, we discuss methods of legitimately making money on the internet.
And by legitimately I mean anything that isn't a scam.

I have no debt, 19, and 6k.
I want to learn how to do invest in things but I really have no resources. People always attempt to recommend you bullsh*t stupid books by scam artist(rich dad poor dad LOLLOLO)..How can I learn to invest in things? Is the only way to do it is to get a finance degree?

I sell Acai Berries. Which one of you fatties want them?

Slingin berries day n day out all day errrday want some? Just order a free 14 day trial all you gotta do is pay for small shipping fee.

Made $1700 (profit) in 5 months, total investment was $60 LOL
Making money on the Internet feels good man.

Just don't do sh*t with eBay or paypal. Will catch up with you one day man.

I just went on the wicked fire site.
I looked around and didn't understand half of the sh*t they're talking about.
Even the "newb" guys assumes you understand stuff...is there a "starting internet business" thread or some sh*t?

1 million people have been dickrolled. What's your name on WF? I'll PM you.. my trip here is very similar to my name on WF.

I've been trying to break in to the internet market for so long. I can't seem to come up with anything.
Had a website and I was going to collect leads and sell them, but I can't drive traffic.

Please elaborate. Where do you play? How reliable is the cashout? That's what's always stopped me, paranoia about how I'll never see my money if it's a significant amount.
Also how good are you? Is this something anyone could learn to do with a few books and some practice?

scratch that, I've got no idea what's going on in that forum. i'm starting a blogger blog though.

Design a website to get as many hits as possible.
Then sell add space and charge it by the hit.
This is a perfect example, the creator of this website is a genius.

Needless to say all that stuff about the eerie dream face is a crock of sh*t, but it attracts a sh*tload of traffic.
And there is a subtle pop up at the bottom of every page.

sng's or ring games?

I only play ring games at 100nl, so the big blind is $1 and the small blind 50c. If you want free poker help go to 2p2 poker forum.

It's pretty safe if you play on a reputable site. If you're american your choices are limited because of some bullsh*t legislation. I'd suggest pokerstars if you want to deposit for the first time. They have the best customer services and easy cashout. Full tilt poker is good too if you sign up with rakeback.
I've been playing seriously for about a year now. I'd say if you studied the game enough you'd be able to make $20 an hour after about few months. You'll probably lose money while you learn though.

You mean collusion? I don't worry about it much @ 100nl, maybe it's worse at the higher stakes. I think the bigger sites do a pretty good job detecting it.

You could blog, but success is nowhere near guaranteed. You could also work your way up through the rings of an online publication.

got anything else to add?

tell me more.
seems like you're trollan

Promoting poker leads, $75 per new player signup.
Ship it, bitch.

Make armor/weapons in your backyard forge and sell them on ebay to lazy people who don't want to make their own damn equipment.
You don't get much, but it is a nice way to make some money out of a hobby.

I don't like poker, too much thinking. I like passive income more -- ie, throw up a website, write some sales copy along with affiliate links, drive some traffic and let it rip.
I did grind it out and got myself a pokerstars head phones and fulltilt sunglasses ought :D

If you have any talent in graphic design/photography, do stock photography for places like istockphoto and the envato marketplaces. This generates recurring income month to month with no work other than the initial effort of creating things
Blogging has been mentioned several times, I used to own a blog and only sold one ad despite writing a lot of (decent) content. My tip for you would be do not blog unless its something you care about, you're a decent writer, and people will read it. If you're just doing it for search engine fodder, think about the effect it's going to have. You're probably not knowledgeable enough about an area to really add anything good to the internet, just more crap for people to wade through.
Then of course there's operating a website that's an application like mint.com, facebook, twitter etc... which usually requires millions in VC etc... assuming this isn't a viable option. You don't want to become another me too site anyways even if you had the skills/time.
You can also open a store site using freely available CMS like Magento, this is similar to the stock photos in that it will generate revenue with no work. If you set it up right other people will ship the stuff for you automatically and take a cut. Easy revenue, but once again you have to set things up right and do the legal legwork, lots of research but you could probably open a chain of those online stores
Then the last lucrative thing I can think of is content production, like collegehumor type skits and being a partner on Youtube. Requires creativity and talent, or at least being funny.
Those are some of the most common ways to make money. Of course there's a ton of other ways like camwhoring, selling fur art on dA and other wacky stuff mentioned in this thread but I don't consider those real money makers

if you are a great artist, people will eat up your art on deviantart. also furry commissions.

i too do the internet pokers
been living off it for a few years
it's tough sh*t though
losing $1k in a hour or so is every day business for me, you gotta get used to that.
first tip. dont sign up to any pokersites directly. Sign up through an affiliate, to get a big percentage of all the rake the pokersites earn off you back. Rakeback its called.

What stakes you play at?

played shorthanded nl holdem, up to nl400
now im PLO (pot limit omaha) only. plo200
you?

I was actually thinking about doing some sort of video teaching pokernoobs how to get into it with a small profit to start off. Just like a starter video, for income seeking greedy young kids :)

10 NL then 25NL then I busted my $150 roll :(

10 NL then 25NL then I busted my $150 roll :(

playing nl25 with a $150 is a recipe for disaster. I'd say 25-30 buyins at least. But you have to be a winning player, otherwise you're obviously gonna lose no matter how many buyins you've got.
I got about 85 buyins for plo200, which I believe is in the low end. But omaha is different. so much gamboool. :)

Omaha is f**king rigged man. I got dealt 4 pocket aces and lost.

I was beating 10NL for 4bb over 30k hands or so?
I was playing like 12 to 24 tables, then I tried some 25NL but my luck ran bad, so I said f**k it.
Then I rented a motel close to the casino and played poker for 2 weeks straight, I was up $1000+ or so?
Bought myself a ps3, donated some money, and said f**k it, I'm too tired to grind.

I can see why playing nl10 gets boring.
I ran good in tournaments, which were my main game in the beginning. Boosted my roll so I started at nl100/nl200 with a decent sized bankroll. Back when the fish were allover the place - 3-4 years ago. Sh*t was cash :)

Fact is, I only played for 9 days instead of 14 -- because the motel was run by ghetto Indians and the bed had F**KING BED BUGS.
F**k ni**er, sh*t is nasty.

Oh yeah, I remember crushing home game tournaments.
Good times.
So what you think of Tom Dwan?

At first I didn't like him. He's so pale and weird and his ego is huge.
But f**k that, I've seen some fantastic plays by him. And he makes any game interesting to watch.
So now I think he's f**king amazing, but I don't think I'd like him in person.

Do any of you guys fancy playing some online poker at pokerstars or something?
I don't have that much money though.

So how you like grinding everyday, how long is your usually session?
I was thinking of going back to the casino and renting a REAL room -- monthly rent this time but god damn, sometimes I'm so tired of grinding everyday.

On the good days I play 2x2 hours. I can't concentrate for more than 2 hours. Hardcore days is 3x2 hours. I need rakerace or something to motivate me for that though.
When I play online I get bored with less than 6 tables.
And playing live is like half speed of a single table online. I have to be drinking to enjoy live poker.

What's the most you won a single day in cash game?
This will give me motivation to head back to the casino and rent my monthly room!
To be honest, I play around 4-6 hours a day, I don't run 14 hours sessions anymore, it's stupid.

not sure, nothing extraordinary. $3k maybe.
Best day was $11k though, cause of a $10k tournament prize.
Best month is around $20k.

Last question is, you ever 3bet with 7 2 on the button?

Do NOT get involved in that Affiliate crap. Sharecash and an awful lot of the spam you see on web is from that. Also, the fake antivirus software you hear about online is usually distributed in the form of affiliate networking. There's money there, but you're a complete fa**ot if you get involved in it.
Legal stuff: Sell things. Information is valuable online. It's harder to find out where to go, but you can make some cash, even if it's just selling email lists to spammers or whatever.

>in your backyard forge

It's not that hard to do. Just find a bunch of fire bricks and clear a good space out in the back yard. All you really need to do is make a space for the fuel (I use charcoal) and an air hole with a tube attached to it that you can blow air in through.
It's kind of like a square bowl with part of one of the sides missing.
That's one of the easier designs anyway.

Last question is, you ever 3bet with 7 2 on the button?

Biggest winners don't do fancy plays v often.
Biggest winners very often seem like boring anonic players when looking. But they keep playing solid and staying away from fancy plays. They don't play to boost ego by 3betting crazy, or getting ppl to fold all the time.
Not saying they don't 3bet, but they do it when it's profitable and for a reason.
Not just cause lol im a lag i can 3bet a lot.
There's a lot of good players who know a lot, and can hand read well, that don't win a lot, cause of ego problems.

Oh, I forgot, the most important thing you need is a good anvil. Don't ever get one of the sh*tty cast iron ones. Those are just anvil shaped objects. The best ones are forged steel anvils and if you're looking to set up a permanent workshop, you're gonna want to have one that weighs between 200 and 300 pounds. Generally, the bigger it is, the less it'll bounce around while you're shaping your metal on it.

Well, put it this way, you'll never, ever be respected by anyone, the money you'll earn is a pittance compared to most real ways of making cash, you'll be competing with 15 year old boys to make the most money, etc.

I think affiliate is fking hard. It can seem easy from outside but really its fking hard.
Most succesful at it clearly arent 15 year olds.
The 15 years old fail miserably.

bluetooth transfer things(1 euro there, sold 5euro each), headphones(also 1 euro, sold 7 each, sony, really good actually), lol even comdoms(yea, 50 pack for 2/3 euro sold for 15) and sold them in the local internet site.
not much money in that tough, but very possible if you make the most of it.

I've actually wanted to do this for a long time. I love metalworking and want to make blades.
I live in a condo at the moment now, so I'm kinda f**ked on forge locations unless I set it up in the woods....

You're right. One of the biggest consistent winner at my local card room is this Asian kid with a small head, yet he ALWAYS cash out as a winner. Like 90 percent of the time, because he's nitty but a solid player.

Omaha is f**king rigged man. I got dealt 4 pocket aces and lost.

You'd best be trollin'
You realise that you only use TWO of your 4 cards in Omaha. Four aces means you only have 2 aces you stupid f**k.

Anyways, something to contribute to this topic ....
I made $6000 (nothing brag worthy) off a $2 sign up offer.
Everytime someone signed up, I got $2.
How I did it:
1. I wrote a bunch of useful articles, then the article would point to my site
2. The visitor would go to my website and enter their name and email for more info
3. Once they enter their email and name, they would be directed to a "presell" page for a money making opporunity. When they visit the website and sign up, I would get $2
I did the project like 2 years ago and it generated me checks in the mail every month, I don't expect it to stop, since the affiliate offer is pretty stable. If it stops, I'll just plug it with another affiliate offer.
Best part is I haven't touched the website in like 2 years yet it's making me cha-ching.
Cost per month is $10 for webhost, $10 a year for domain name, and $20 for autoresponder.
