Why do girls always touch their hair?

Like why are they always moving it to the side or whatever? 99% of the time it doesn't in the slightest change the way the hair looks, they just touch it...
Is it like a nervous habit? it is very stupid.

Even when they aren't talking, like sitting in the subway or in a shop or restaurant, I ALWAYS see girls doing that sh*t.

It's an akward habit.
I do it to avoid eye-contact in conversations with people I don't feel completely comfortable around. I don't like eye contact.

Yep. Even brushing it away for a second gives the feeling that it's going to last. I'd rather do that than clip it up, or have it sitting behind my ears, both of which I find uncomfortable and gross.

I was playing a mental patient at a haunted house. Their wardrobe had a bunch of girls wigs and the makeup artist smeared a bunch of eyeshadow and lipstick on my face. Sooner or later those photos are going to come back to haunt me.

it's either to get it out of their eyes, or (more typically) it's an unconscious self-grooming thing that they do when they're in the presence of someone they're attracted to. guys with long hair do this too.
same reason you adjust your glasses / check yourself in a mirror / smooth down your shirt / whatever. you're subconsciously grooming yourself in the presence of someone you want to bone.
the difference between "f**k, my eyes" and "f**k, let's do it" is easy to spot if you're not a moron. might take a little practice, though.

Scenario: I'm sitting in subway, girl across from me keeps doing it. As in its not even in her way but she did it at least 15 times in 30 seconds and the hair wasn't even moving, just stroking it. BESIDES her wanting to bone me (doubtful), surely theres another reason?
