On being homeless

Tips tricks etc for homelessness?
Also, have any of you had experiences with this?
As for me, I'm living in an abandoned house right now. Been here about 3 months. Stealing neighbor's wifi. I charge my laptop at the library or in other public places because I don't have electricity. Free water though, thankfully.

Be homeless in a good climate. Cali is good. NYC is only good from spring to early autumn

When I got thrown out I slept in my car for three weeks until I got paid, then I spent a grand GBP on living from a hotel and getting drunk everynight.
Then the money ran out and I was f**ked because I'd sold my car. I just went to the council and told them and they gave me a flat.

stay there for 3 years and the house is yours :D

I slept in a cardboard box behind a strip mall, or wherever I could.
There are church-ran places to get free things like clothing, blankets, FOOD etc.

anyone know of blogs, or things like that, to get for this kind of thing?

anyone know of blogs, or things like that, to get for this kind of thing?

I might write one eventually

long-term homelessness isn't an option, the best adviceice i could give is to get sh*t sorted out QUICK.

anyone know of blogs, or things like that, to get for this kind of thing?

I've held on to these just in case.

Actually, scratch that first one. Re-reading it, it's completely useless.

if you're going into the squat alone at night, leave the door open behind you and check every room to see if anyone else is there
it means that either they will run out past you, or you can get away if someone goes for you in the dark

Can you give more info about yourself?
Are you from France living in a foreign country now?
I will do this too, i can't leech any longer.
But i have got about 6000 Euros .
It's gonna used up pretty fast.
How did you find the abandoned house?
You are lucky that you got free water.

This board is full of atheists and Statists so this tip is useless.

How do homeless people charge their laptops?

How do homeless people charge their laptops?

Solar energy or they somehow leech it elsewhere like the library.
I really like the idea of being independent with energy supply.

No, I live in the United States. (Austin TX, to be specific.) and am American.
I found the house purely by luck. It's reminiscent of Tyler Durden's abandoned house in Fight Club. Which is kind of cool, in a way.
How do homeless people charge their laptops?

I plug the charger cord into an electrical outlet...? Places like libraries or anywhere with outlets where you can be for free for long periods of time are good places to do it.

Keep up with the informational threads that appear on bee, some of them will be extremely handy for surviving.
Also, if you're gonna be homeless go live out in the country side or in a forest or some sh*t. If you got the right supplies first you could live easily out there.

Where did you live before you found that abandoned house?

Here it is too cold.
I really need to leave this country and move to a foreign country, even though i would be an illegal immigrant then.
Winter is way too cold here.
An island would be actually quite nice.

Where did you live before you found that abandoned house?

Wandering around the city. Sleeping wherever I could.
Before THAT, though, I lived at home. I got kicked out of my parents house at 19, I'm 20 now. So, I've been homeless about 7 or 8 months. 3 of which were spent at this house.

Funny .. I have a empty house that I've been slowly rehabbing (going on 3 years) that I keep heated with water and electric on just so the city stays off my ass.
If (and that's an impossible 'if') I could find somebody chill to live there so nobody f**ks with the place .. I'd actually pay them.
Sadly, this is not the sort of thing one can adviceertise for.

One word: Craigslist.

Atheist here. I have no problems getting free sh*t from the church. If anything I'd rather take from the church than from actual good people. Religions use charity to recruit and brainwash the vulnerable, and to get in good with the magic sky fairy.

If it's in Southern California, I may consider it.

You're by far the biggest fa**ot I've encountered so far today.

Oh, i have to overcome fear.
Really lived a comfortable life up until now.
It will be really painfull first.
And i really hope i am as lucky as OP and can find an abadoned housing with free water.
I have some money left for food expending though.

All of you who are considering voluntary homelessness are F**KING retarded.

You are the very definition of a hypocrite

All of you who are considering voluntary homelessness are F**KING retarded.

I don't want to work.

You are the very definition of a hypocrite

Do you know what the word hypocrite means or do you just throw it around at people who do things you don't approve of? How am I a hypocrite?

I don't want to work.

I genuinely wish people like you were forced to live in third-world countries for a few years.

Buy a van, live in it. If you're homeless a van is like a classy hotel.

It's morons like you who make me ashamed to be atheist.

I don't want to work.

Do it if it makes you happy. Anarchists do it all the time.

I genuinely wish people like you were forced to live in third-world countries for a few years.

Your logic really fails.
Why looking down when it comes to this matter?
I hope you will lose 1 leg or 2 because there are many people who lost their legs.

I genuinely wish people like you were forced to live in third-world countries for a few years.

Some people just can't handle society. And why blame them? Who wants to slave half their life away for a sh*t system?

Do it if it makes you happy. Anarchists do it all the time.

But i won't be your typical anarchist.
More like a hippy i think.
I don't drink or do any drugs.
I want to stay clean and healthy.

It's morons like you who make me ashamed to be atheist.

Another jab at me without an explanation. I'm not a moron, stop projecting your insecurities at me. I think that it is better to take from those who are giving for their own benefit than from those who give out of actual goodness. I realize all religious people aren't horrible and only give in order to get in good with the sky fairy, but for many that is a factor. Churches also cultivate a culture of giving. I think that non religious, non church going people are more apt to give out of goodness and empathy.

Some people just can't handle society. And why blame them? Who wants to slave half their life away for a sh*t system?

Life isn't that hard in western society. You can work 30 hours a week at a job that will never kill or seriously hurt you and in return always have a warm bed to sleep in and good food to eat. What is the alternative? Leech off a society you claim to hate or work very hard for little return on your own.

Your logic really fails.

I hope you will lose 1 leg or 2 because there are many people who lost their legs.

It's your logic that fails in this argument.

is essentially calling

I don't want to work.
ungrateful, because he doesn't take adviceantage of the opportunity not afforded to him that's lacking in virtually the rest of the world for no reason.
Meanwhile everyone with two legs is grateful that they have two legs.

But i won't be your typical anarchist.

>no drugs
>healthy
enjoy your infections.

Why did you get kicked out at 19? Let me guess, you are American?
I don't understand the american mentality of "If you can't support yourself by the time you're 18, f**k you and get out."

Well you have to work your way there. You have to factor in years of education, menial jobs, being a psychophant. to work through the social hierarchy. And even after that it sometimes doesn't work out so well. While some people spoonfed from the beginning. For some people especially those who start at the bottom of the social ladder find it all too overwhelming and find it easier to either leech from the system or become a squatter or some variant therof.

You can't compare XY situations so easily!
While for example in 3rd world countries people may be happy to have any work at all, people here whine about low salary all the time.
So they are all ungrateful? I hope you are not a hypocrit and apply your logic with consistence...
Just because someone has it worse than you, and you don't take the given opportunities you are ungrateful?
Oh well, this applies to almost everyone in wealthy countries.
>Meanwhile everyone with two legs is grateful that they have two legs.
I don't think so. The 2 legs are just there.
I can bet all my money that you haven't given a damn about that you have 2 healthy legs and many others not.
It's just there.

If you, as an atheist, don't see the hypocrisy in going to an institution of God for their charity, you are truly deluded.
Your bitter explanation as to why you'd engage in such behavior is a testament to that fact.

If life as a homeless is too hard to endure, i will just kill myself then.
It's as easy as it can get.

So instead of working hard to get where you want to be... you'll just wallow in the underclass, leeching off society?
Way to pu**y out of life.

So instead of working hard to get where you want to be... you'll just wallow in the underclass, leeching off society?
Way to pu**y out of life.

Yes, it's my decision and i don't care what other may think of me.
They should be happy that there are so called underclassed people like me (in the future), so that they can feel good about themselves.

So instead of working hard to get where you want to be... you'll just wallow in the underclass, leeching off society?
Way to pu**y out of life.

You mean "Way to beat the system, champ."

So instead of working hard to get where you want to be... you'll just wallow in the underclass, leeching off society?

But what if where you want to be is not working? Society would call you lazy. But why is this so? Why is it lazy? Because society says so? I personally believe thats just ruling class idaology. You wouldn't have to in a collectivist society. This is the way some Anarchist see things and explains why they would rather just leech from society and get this illusion of autonomy.

If you, as an atheist, don't see the hypocrisy in going to an institution of God for their charity, you are truly deluded.
Your bitter explanation as to why you'd engage in such behavior is a testament to that fact.

You've misused the word hypocrite. I suggest you learn the meaning of a word before using it in the future. It makes you look like a stunned c**t when you use words that you do not understand in order to insult people. Such behavior is reminiscent of people who call Obama a fascist.
Hypocrisy is the act of persistently professing beliefs, opinions, virtues, feelings, qualities, or standards that are inconsistent with one's actions. Hypocrisy is thus a kind of lie.
I can take all I want from the church without being a hypocrite. The only way you could interpret my behavior as hypocritical is through a gross misunderstanding of what the term hypocrite means.

Hrm
Well OP is lucky hes not a woman
Would be sold to some guy by now if he was...
How do you find out how to buy people in the human trafficking area anyways? lol

Where do you live?
If it's in Southern California, I may consider it.

A suburb of Cleveland (not the sh*thole proper .. an actual nice suburb with parks, schools, etc.)
Craigslist isn't an option .. some dickwad would probably sue me for housing discrimination.

You know what could be awesome?
When you have a ship and all crewmates are more or less hippies.
It's as free as you can get.

Naive middle class underage b& detected.
>Why is it lazy? Because society says so?
Yes, it is. Because that's the way the world works, kid. Ever since the dawn of time, human beings have lived in communities, with each one contributing differently. It's how the world works.
If you can survive on your own, hunting your own animals, finding your own drinking water, making your own clothes and building your own home, then you are entitled to live alone.
If you plan on sleeping in abandoned houses, begging for food, and relying on the charity of others, you are a worthless parasite who's too much of a pu**y to earn an honest buck.

And even so, society is to hypocritical just to offer this individual the means to end his life.

What the f**k are you talking about? You even need to rely on others to kill yourself?
Jesus Christ. Shoot yourself in the head or take a hundred pills, it's not hard. Do the world a favour, you f**king parasite.

Fear?
How fast did you adapt?

I'd wish that i would be more openminded and more sociable.
It's easier in a group with hippies than fighting alone.

Instead of going to the extremes (living in the streets), buy cheap land in rural place and put a cabin in there, you can live cheaply.
Alternatively you can buy a Class B RV (small) and live in the city.

I was homeless for a while.
Live in a car and during the day I stayed/lived in a mcdonalds.

homeless by choice for a month to save money after being laid off in 2009.
I slept behind the cab of my truck (behind the seats) and would just ride my bike around the city for entertainment, lock it up in the mall and find different parking spots different days that always had cars so I wouldn't be noticed in a huge empty parking lot. I admit, it is too rough to do for a long time. I ate a lot of cans of hormel chili and cliff bars for breakfast. Not fun after a month.

If you are in america, and can manage to prove that you've been living in that house for 5 years, you can actually claim ownership of it legally.

Wait, so if there's a living owner, they have to turn the deed over to you with no charge?

Wait, so if there's a living owner, they have to turn the deed over to you with no charge?

I forget the specifics but it is called squatting.

my brother is homeless and not on drugs.
Have a skill. Being able to play guitar and sing can pay out. Be creative with spanging (spare changing). A cup on a string can net you some cash.
Punk rock houses are plentiful on the West Coast. Portland is full of them. Rent is cheap, just don't keep anything expensive.
Stay away from hard drugs. Once you're homeless and addicted, you are f**ked. Really, stay away from junkies and you'll do fine. There are a lot of people who are voluntarily homeless.
Craigslist can help you get odd jobs.
Learn to use eBay to sell sh*t. Just use generic pictures and package everything cheap. You'll find sh*t when you are walking around every day.
Take care of yourself. Athlete's foot can f**k you hard. Find social services if you need them. Always be as clean as you can be. Take showers as often as you can find them. A gym membership that you can use in different cities can save you cash. Take adviceantage of free offers.
Don't sleep in shelters if you can avoid them. You'll find street-hardened people and it will suck you in.
In every city you go to, find these: library (internet), food lines (food), the business districts (for spanging/busking), where the street kids hang out (companions), major highways (for hitching to your next destination). You will learn this pretty quick, but a heads-up is what you need.
Remember, no matter how good or how bad your life is at any moment, something can come by and change your luck.
Avoid the predatory gays. Any offer that is too good to be true, is.
Remember, cash on hand is better than carrying extra sh*t. Convert as much of what you have to cash.

why don't you f**s join the army. You get free room and board, a paycheck, and a gun.

I forget the specifics but it is called squatting.

squatters rights... and its 12 years with alot of proof

The last case I read on it it occurred in the 90's and it only required 5 years.
