Ask a guy who literally lives in a fantasy world, anything

Backstory - I've had severe idiopathic hypersomnia (think opposite of insomnia)following an accident when I was 17. I sleep literally twenty hours a day and have a life inside my head that is like normal.
It seems strange to type it out like that, I spend so much time in my "dream life" that my waking hours feel like a dream.
So yeah, I thought you guys might be interested in my live(s).

Part 2 is here.

Can you control your "dreams"?

Hav you met Dream of the Endless?

Are you still a virgin? Are you in a relationship? Do you have kids? What do you do in your life typically?
These questions apply to both lives.

are you a butterfly?

Drowsey uses dreameater!
HAHAHHAHAHA

are you a butterfly?

What you did there. I see it.
Myeyesareopen

arent u really hungry all the time when ur awake?

What you did there. I see it.
Myeyesareopen

i tank u

here all week, try the veal

Can you control your "dreams"?

Sort of, I guess. When my dreams started turning from random crap (like what I had before the accident, probably what you have now) into an actual lucid life, I f**ked around with it a lot, flying and all the usual stuff.
Then I realised that this wasn't going to go away and I should probably be more careful with my "life" in case I f**k something up for good.

In real life I'm a virgin, only been in one relationship before, I'm 21 so I don't have kids and never plan to. I generally spend my 3-4 hours awake on the net, mostly here. I have to spend most of the time eating food that'll sustain my body through the day so I don't die.
I get welfare because it's impossible for me to work, and live in a sh*tty flat which is fine by me because this life is temporary.
In the life I spend time in, I'm in a relationship with a beautiful girl (who had insomnia, lol) and obviously am not a virgin.
We don't have kids yet, but I think she does want them sometime and to be honest it'd be pretty cool, just not currently.
I work as a yachter for the new york higher water transport service - I take VIP guests between the islands of the NY area (yes I know ny isn't an island chain, in my life it is) as an alternative to them using run-down public ferries.
I have to wake up pretty early but apart from that it's a sweet deal :)
also wtf is going on

arent u really hungry all the time when ur awake?

Yeah, but only for the first hour or so, then I have to force myself to eat more before I go back to sleep.

Do you experience hardships in your dreams?
And can you differentiate your dreams from reality? Because I can't.

It's true, christf** is a dick.
But I can't bring myself to hate him because of that :3 and because he is not a goddamn Baptist motherf**ker.

Are you content with this? Would you prefer this world or that one? Also, do you really feel the things you do in that life? Like sexual memories and feelings, food, are there small instances that you remember like driving to work, walking the streets, etc? Or do you just teleport to places and everything is perfect? Is it realistic?

Hey OP, message me on AIM. You sound like you'd be a neat friend to have. anon2216

Dude. Go away. No one likes you, and not in a "cool" way. F**k off.

Can I write about you? Or at least, write a short story based on you?

Do you experience hardships in your dreams?
And can you differentiate your dreams from reality? Because I can't.

Yes, or at least I did. Life is coasting along pretty nicely for me at the moment, but a few years ago when me and my girlfriend had just finished school there were a few times where we were just scraping by.
Haha, the main difference is that my "real life" is boring and crappy. There's a huge difference and it only takes an hour or two of "real life" before I start longing for my girlfriend and my actual life.

What kind of accident caused the disorder?

Actually, I like christf**. Even though we're total opposites in terms of faith and whatnot, seems like a cool person.

No one likes you either. F**king tripcode users and your false forced personalities. Why the f**k are you here? Do you get some sort of satisfaction attempting to distinguish your f**ked up self in this pool of f**kups?
You're an ordinary, boring white 20 some year old male. There's nothing special about you. There's nothing even overly wrong with you. YOU'RE F**KING BORING. STOP TRYING TO STAND OUT

uh uh, no way - this is a cool thread and i'm not hijacking it

Sorry man, I don't have AIM and cbf working out how to set it up.

I'm not sure what I'd prefer if I had a choice, probably my world.
And yes, with time all my senses have become identical to the ones in real life, it still hurts like a bitch when I step on a tack .
TBH, memories from this life are very vague - everything's slowly gotten more and more cloudy to the point where I'll occasionally remember a small detail, but I can't actually focus on anything specific.
Haha, like I said before, I probably could teleport but I'd rather bike to work, I probably could have sex all day but I'd rather have a meaningful relationship with my girlfriend whom I love despite our problems, and a job that's pretty enjoyable for me.

Wow what a genius comeback! So witty! Let me make a note of it, publish it in my little book of amazing people, attributing it to Rodjo, so that in the future, I will recognize his brilliant posts, and when I eventually find those rare threads where he announces his personal information, I'll locate him in real life and fall in love with my new best friend and future husband.

I...Kind of envy you. But I feel bad since you have to control what you do on a smaller level I suppose. You must know subconsciously exactly how your wife will react to things, how you will get through things, what's going to happen etc. I'm not sure how you can find joy through predetermined events...?
Though, you sound content, calm and peaceful. :)

What kind of accident caused the disorder?

I was riding my bike on the road while listening to my mp3 player and got knocked off by a car coming around the corner. I wasn't wearing a helmet and I whacked my head pretty hard against the sidewalk.
Can I write about you? Or at least, write a short story based on you?

sure, why not, I guess it could be interesting :)

Thanks! I'll remember to thank you when I've made it big.
So, tell me about your life. You mentioned you had a gf, and you're a yachtman in NY, and you finished schooling? What happens in a regular day for you?
And what about your relatives? How do they feel about your condition?

Nah, you're totally underestimating how real the life is to me.
I haven't messed with it for so long that I'm not even sure I can anymore. It isn't like a computer game where on some level I know how it'll turn out, I'm not "playing along" or anything.
The best way I can describe it is life, because that's what it is to me, my life.

Don't weird dreamlike occurrences happen? Like a shift in setting, people chasing you, etc.
How has your family reacted? Have you tried getting treatment?

Are you the same age in your dream life that you are IRL? What happens if a bus hits you in your dream world?

dont you feel like you should have sex in rl at least once? just so you know if the dream-world is close enough to it?
its like, what if the sex in the dream-world is not as good as the real thing... doing it once in rl could correct that error

This thread is both interesting and depressing. It's interesting how awesome and real your dream world is. But it's also depressing because "reality" is a fleeting, terrible experience.

YOU F**KING BASTARD F**K YOU F**K YOU F**K YOU
I'm going to talk sh*t about you on my next Homily. Take that, you ass.

What accident caused this?

aosidhblock

Does your girlfriend know she isn't real?

What are nightmares for you like? Since your world is so real, have you like woken up crying? freaked out?

This thread is both interesting and depressing. It's interesting how awesome and real your dream world is. But it's also depressing because "reality" is a fleeting, terrible experience.

It's the best thread I've read on anonymous since Futureguy stopped by with a decent thread.

OP, what happens if your dream you dies in an accident? Will you start a new dream life, will the whole dream living thing stop, allowing you to live a normal real life, what?
On a related note, obviously if you die in real life the dream life you have will also be lost. Have you told your wife about the real world, and if so, have you explained to her that you might die out here and never see her again?
Oh, and one last thing, in your dream life do you go to sleep just before you wake up to the real world? Like, that world happens when the real you is a sleep, but is the dream you asleep when you're in the real world?

Do real (our real, not your real) news/events affect your world in any way?
I guess what I'm asking is: is your president a ni**er or not?

>literally lives in a fantasy world
>literally

You only have four hours in a day. I would bet that in order for you to survive, you'd have to spend the four hours keeping yourself alive- spending time eating all the meals you need, doing exercise (because you are f**king sleeping 20 hours and your body will probably fail if not). Assuming im right (and if im not, how the f**k do you survive?) why would you even pay for an internet connection? How would you have enough time pissing about on the net to come to this place and adjust to the lingo and sh*t? I don't believe it.

Thanks! I'll remember to thank you when I've made it big.

Awesome, I'll be expecting a 40/60 cut haha
Well, I wake up at 5:15, eat breakfast, brush my teeth etc. then take Cruiser (real original name for a yacht right) to my first passenger. If nobody's booked in for the first ride then I can just sail wherever for half an hour before I start.
I take people back and forth until 4PM at the latest and either catch up with my old school friends or pick up Jess from work.
Every few nights we'll go out to Mainland (second biggest island in the chain, the nightlife area) and stay out clubbing or watch a proper 3D film (no glasses, it's awesome).
One of the things that seems more unrealistic is windskating, I'd say it originated from the dumb things I did when I was first getting used to the "dream world". I take my windskate (surfboard-ish) up to the starter fans and glide along the wind currents over the islands, it's beautiful. Sometimes I race my buddies but mostly I use it to relax - flying amongst the clouds so high I can barely make out Touraego (the island I live on).
I wish I could show you guys the pictures :)

While in dreamlife do you realize it is a dream? And how does that affect what happens to you/around you?

psh, there are plenty of people RIGHT HERE ON THIS WEBSITE who probably rarely move. He could be alive because he's young and heart disease or whatever hasn't got him yet.

I'm starting to think you're a troll, how would you be able to fabricate an entire movie plot without it being completely random and asinine?

sleepguy, do you fear death, in either life? does dying in this life not seem like you will be able to escape to your other one and visa versa?
Also how lucid is your dream, do features in it all remain the same? and do you remember every detail of your dreams or is it like most peoples in which they forget most of the dream?
And how do you dream up your own movies? if you can do so why do you not work on bringing one into the real world?

So, is this an actual dream or more of just an imaginary world you place yourself in? Because, the average human dream is MUCH short than it seems. Dreams that seem 10 minutes long are usually only 20 seconds long. That said, a dream that feels like an entire day cant be more than an hour or two long.

Don't weird dreamlike occurrences happen? Like a shift in setting, people chasing you, etc.
How has your family reacted? Have you tried getting treatment?

Not at all, that kind of thing stopped about a month after I started spending all my time in dreams.
My mum is my only family and she really freaked when it first happened, she didn't want to lose me I guess. Four years of zero communication straightened that out though, she only visits on holidays and I don't think she really wants to know me any more.
At the start I was prescribed amphetamines (forget the names now) and that kept me awake for a good chunk of the day, but made me feel awful.
Also, seeing as I have no job to pay for treatments and I don't really want "real life" anyway, it's not a big deal.
Does your girlfriend know she isn't real?

haha, but she IS. I was going to try to explain this in the OP because I knew someone would ask, but idk. I haven't told her about this world, I generally think of this place as a dream. I don't want her to think I'm insane.
dont you feel like you should have sex in rl at least once? just so you know if the dream-world is close enough to it?
its like, what if the sex in the dream-world is not as good as the real thing... doing it once in rl could correct that error

No, not really. Sex is pretty awesome as it is and I try not to do stuff like it in the real world in case it messes something up in my "dream world"
What are nightmares for you like? Since your world is so real, have you like woken up crying? freaked out?

I don't have nightmares, or any other dreams for that matter. It's just dream world and real life cycling.

Have you ever had any experiences with drugs, either in our world or yours?

I have no idea, I've obviously thought about it but I have no definite answer for what'll happen if I die in my world.
Sorry guys, I'm getting sick of sitting here trying to post and web continually f**king up. I'm going to stuff myself with some more food and sit outside for a bit.
Back in 5 :)

Best thread on anonymous that I've seen in years.

I honestly do not know whether to envy this man's position. I'm sure plenty of philosophers have already had this thought experiment.

Best thread on anonymous that I've seen in years.

I readily agree.

How do you know that this isn't the dream world? What if your other life is the real one?
I know you said you can f**k with the other world and sh*t, and obviously I'm real if I'm sitting here posting to you, so I guess I just answered my own question.
But if I were in your position, I would probably ask myself the same thing.

Recently anonymous's had some f**king amazing threads, it's like anonymous sees the plague of tripf**s and raised it with an all-round effort for quality posts.
This thread is another gold one. I don't even care if I'm being trolled, I'm amazed at how well thought out the entire thing is... I didn't even know there was an opposite to insomnia.
Two Questions, Sleepguy:
1) Assuming you're only awake for the four hours a day, how do you go about that? (Be specific, seeing as it's only 4 hours! :P)
2) How did you find web? Some people spend ages on the internet and never find this place. inb4 secret club, I know web's not secret, but it's still quite an obscure website...

I think this guy has managed a life that's a combination of Aria and The Matrix.
Whoa.

the philosophical implications of this is.... very philosophical
To be honest, I sort of wish I was in your shoes.

Sleepguy, I envy your life.
;__;

Sleepguy, I suffered from hypersomnia too, not as severe as your own, but to the point where I could sleep 18 hours or so, and have frequent naps.
Sadly, my dreams were just f**ky nightmares. I used sleep to escape the depression in real life, I really wish I didn't have to sleep now. I changed meds, but I'm still tired all the f**king time.

0/10. That's a poor attempt, anon. They even called you out on it.

what was the accident and do you have friends in this life

Sorry for taking so long, I just found a mouse! I thought I was going insane (lol) when I kept seeing tails flicking around before but one just leaped out from under my bed and ran under the door.
Anyway, back to questions.

What accident did you have?
and how do you distinguish whats real and what isnt?

Sleepguy!
If you hurt yourself in your dreamlife, does it ever manifest with physical symptoms in your waking life? That is to say - if you break your arm, or something, in your dreamlife, do you wake up with a sore arm?

This thread is another gold one. I don't even care if I'm being trolled, I'm amazed at how well thought out the entire thing is... I didn't even know there was an opposite to insomnia.
Two Questions, Sleepguy:
1) Assuming you're only awake for the four hours a day, how do you go about that? (Be specific, seeing as it's only 4 hours! :P)
2) How did you find web? Some people spend ages on the internet and never find this place. inb4 secret club, I know web's not secret, but it's still quite an obscure website...

Do you sh*t yourself in your sleep?
Seriously. I want to know.

Is anyone else thinking that Futureguy went out and saw Avatar and decided to invent a new character?

Hi. I'm Ashley.
You should cheat on your wife with me. :)
See you tonight!

Do you sh*t yourself in your sleep?
Seriously. I want to know.

Do YOU?
sh*ttinginsleep

Do YOU?
sh*ttinginsleep

not the guy you're replying to, but most people don't spend 20 hours a day in bed. It's hard to imagine being able to pull it off without needing diapers or something.

op youre just kidding your selve
you probably just do it to live from the gouvernment, from MY MONEY
you F**KER GO FIND A JOB

F**k you anonymous stop messing up

I said before that I just mucked around on the net and ate food, but that's just been the past week. I usually spend half an hour at most on the internet, the rest of the time is spent moving - not so much exercise, just stuff to get my blood flowing. Every second of it I miss my world - the fresh air, the freedom of the seas and the skies.
After walking around and looking at random crap I come back, turn on my fan and open the windows, then jump on my floor (my entire floor is covered in padding) and go home.

DIE OP
you should have died in that accident

DIE OP

<-- bee's that way.

Have you ever tried to read about something completely new to you and then see if you can then imagine it in your dream?
And even if you cant imagine it, will the dream be affected in anyway?

Do you sh*t yourself in your sleep?

Shut up, they're probably watching right now

why the f**k wont you answer about the accident sleep guy, im sure alot of us want to know so we can try and replicate it

<-- bee's that way. Aaaand the second answer? :D

Oh sorry dude, the answer to that is I was already on bee before it all started. I could pretend that I was going to lead a productive life and that the accident cruelly ripped it away, but as evidenced by the fact I was underagebee& I'm pretty sure I wasn't going to succeed much anyway.

why the f**k wont you answer about the accident sleep guy, im sure alot of us want to know so we can try and replicate it

Hey man, I already did here:

I was riding my bike on the road while listening to my mp3 player and got knocked off by a car coming around the corner. I wasn't wearing a helmet and I whacked my head pretty hard against the sidewalk.

sure, why not, I guess it could be interesting :)

As you can see, I don't think it'd be very smart to replicate

I've barely read the first few post but this sounds completely amazing. thank god you're lucid dreaming, not just random sh*t once or twice a night with 4 hours of being conscious every day

Ah cool. I was genuinely puzzled as to how someone who spends fairly little time online would find a website as niche as this.

Ok man, how do you keep your dream world propped up? I mean eventually your car will break down, and you'll ask someone for adviceice on what to do, but they won't be able to give you adviceice since they're a construct of your mind and in real life you don't know anything about cars. Or perhaps this doesn't happen with a car but some other device, but I think you get what I'm saying. Eventually people are going to seem really shallow since they can only know things you already know. You'll never be able to learn in dream land.

If you could, would you go back and stop the accident?

He already has:

As niche as this? If I recall, at one point web was one of the 100 most visited web sites in the world and this was some time ago so I imagine it's probably more popular now.

Why don't you just drug yourself to stay awake?

what was the accident and do you have friends in this life

No, I basically lost all contact with this world after a month of sleeping. I don't even have any internet friends anymore.
Sleepguy!
If you hurt yourself in your dreamlife, does it ever manifest with physical symptoms in your waking life? That is to say - if you break your arm, or something, in your dreamlife, do you wake up with a sore arm?

No, but I've never been seriously hurt in either lives since the accident. The most damage that's been done was a twisted ankle from being a dumbass and yachting dusted with my mate. When I woke up I kept flinching every time I forgot and stepped with that foot but it never actually hurt.

Sleepguy, have you ever talked to a physiatrist or something about your dream life?
What have they had to say about it?

You do realise that everything is a product of your own mind and psyche right?
I'm not trying to belittle you or anything, but if you've lost touch with that fact then you're probably certifiably insane.
Either way, enjoy, it's pretty amazing what the mind can do.
I do have another question though.
Do you live each night as the next day, with the 4 hours you're awake sort of, the time you spend sleeping in the dream world. Even if the perceived time doesn't quite match up. Also do you know the date in your mind, can you work with computers and phones etc in your dream, ive heard most lucid dreamers cant, although you seem to be on a different level.

and now for an /x/ related questions.
have you ever been able to learn things in you dreams that you didn't already know?
also, if you are continuously lucid, have you ever tried to access someone elses dream?

I actually don't own a car, there's not much point when I'm surrounded by water, but I get what you mean. If something requiring technical knowledge was to break, I'd take it to a repair store. If I really had to ask instructions on how to fix something then I have no doubt it would make sense, even if it wouldn't in real life.
Anywho, this hasn't happened in four years so I don't think it's a problem I'll come across.

As niche as this? If I recall, at one point web was one of the 100 most visited web sites in the world and this was some time ago so I imagine it's probably more popular now.

321st most visited website in the US.

Why don't you just drug yourself to stay awake?

I explained this here, this thread's pretty big though, can't blame ya for not seeing it

Also, seeing as I have no job to pay for treatments and I don't really want "real life" anyway, it's not a big deal.

haha, but she IS. I was going to try to explain this in the OP because I knew someone would ask, but idk. I haven't told her about this world, I generally think of this place as a dream. I don't want her to think I'm insane.

No, not really. Sex is pretty awesome as it is and I try not to do stuff like it in the real world in case it messes something up in my "dream world"

I don't have nightmares, or any other dreams for that matter. It's just dream world and real life cycling.

You need to class up to an mage OP.

sleepguy, do you fear death, in either life? does dying in this life not seem like you will be able to escape to your other one and visa versa?
Also how lucid is your dream, do features in it all remain the same? and do you remember every detail of your dreams or is it like most peoples in which they forget most of the dream?
And how do you dream up your own movies? if you can do so why do you not work on bringing one into the real world?

oi sleepyf** you never answered these :3

How are you able to keep food around all the time when you're only up for a few hours a day?
Do you go out and buy a bunch or do you have a personal shopper?
Also, how did you obtain the computer you're on?

Well, I'm sure there are a lot of areas you aren't an expert in that get f**ked around since your brain is probably making up bullsh*t to fill in the gaps.
Do me a favor man. Watch an episode of Mythbusters next time you're in your dream world, then when you wake up make a thread about what you see. I'm just really interested in what your mind can make up to fill in what you don't really know.

and now for an /x/ related questions.
have you ever been able to learn things in you dreams that you didn't already know?
also, if you are continuously lucid, have you ever tried to access someone elses dream?

Nope, apart from stuff that I could've worked out with reason anyway.
And no again, even when I started being lucid I didn't believe in that kind of thing and wouldn't know how to go about it anyway

I think I'm almost ready to go back to sleep, I'll answer a few more questions/discussions/whatever and then it's lights out for me.

teach yourself maths and then you can solve problems in the real world without requiring knowledge from outside the dream world

Sleepguy, if we keep this thread alive for 18 hours, would you be willing to answer more questions?

We could learn so very much from you.
It's very interesting that you bike to work rather than teleport, why do you do this? Why do you work at all? Why do you make yourself suffer? Why don't you just have sex all day?
What is it about hardship that pleases you?

When you go to sleep for the night in the dreamworld, do you wake up here?
You're fully aware that you're actually lying asleep in your flat when you're living your dreamlife right?
Why have you chosen to work a job and do the daily grind, why don't you push the boundaries, sail for miles upon miles in your mind and see where you end up and what happens?
I envy you, you're putting the most extraordinary gift to waste, you could do things that the rest of the world couldnt even fathom on a daily basis.
Does it seem to you that the people in the dream are their own entities with their own motives or desires, or do you recognise the fact that they're merely a fragment of your psyche?
please answer, im intruiged.

Sleepguy, if we keep this thread alive for 18 hours, would you be willing to answer more questions?

commencing bumping.

Guys, anyone can learn to lucid dream, although doing it 20 hours a day is a tall order

Guys, anyone can learn to lucid dream, although doing it 20 hours a day is a tall order

One might say it's a Venti order.

Quite honestly OP, this story sounds like the philosophical pokemon argument, the one where ash is in a coma and whatnot. You just realize it.

sleepguy, do you fear death, in either life? does dying in this life not seem like you will be able to escape to your other one and visa versa?

I fear death just as much as any person, I suppose. I know it's hard, if not impossible for you guys to comprehend, but that is my LIFE, it's not a dream to me. There are obvious differences, but when I'm in the dream world I think about real life in the same way you guys think about your dreams - barely ever, and when I do it's all fuzzy, so I'm not constantly thinking OHSH*TOHSH*T SOMEONE MIGHT BE ABOUT TO KILL ME
I think I answered the second one a few times, but basically it's like real life for you. Real life is hard to remember unless I'm awake.
I generally rip movies/music or at least the plots/choruses from ones in real life. What happens a lot is that I'll go see a movie, then wake up, go for a walk and see a poster that looks eerily similar and be all OH WHAT THE FUUU- and then realise a second later that I must've seen an ad for it earlier.
To the guy who asked if we have a black guy as president, nope, John Carlberg is our president and he's white.

Do you eat in your dreamworld?

You should be in every Psychology and Neurosci textbook in the world, OP. Get on that.
Except probably troll.

Since you dream so much does it feel like a longer amount of time? When I wake up it feels like time flew by, but for you is this different?

Sleepguy, if we keep this thread alive for 18 hours, would you be willing to answer more questions?

Sure thing, but I should probably do an hour or so of getting out of the house tomorrow.
We could learn so very much from you.

I think the more ridiculous I make it, the bigger the chance will be that I actually become aware that I'm living in a dream world and it all turns to crap. What I'm really saying is that I'm scared to death that I might lose my whole world - how would you feel if your day-to-day life was nothing more than one random situation jumping to the next? That's what I'm afraid will happen.
I've invested a lot of time and effort in that life, and I do enjoy it, despite not f**king Angelina Jolie on a daily basis like I did at first.

You should be in every Psychology and Neurosci textbook in the world, OP. Get on that.

yup

Not really, it's just an acute form of hypersomnia, I'm sure there are a lot of people like me
Since you dream so much does it feel like a longer amount of time? When I wake up it feels like time flew by, but for you is this different?

Yessir, but you have to remember that right now when I'm talking to you guys, this is what I consider dreaming. When I wake up it'll feel like I was asleep for a good while.
Although even before the accident, I never really felt the sensation of timelessness between going to bed and waking up that everyone seems to have. I dunno if that changes anything.
Alrighty now, I'm exhausted, it was fun talking to you guys :)

yup

Wait, before you go--make a point to read what should be an informative article or watch a historical documentary or something. Then come tell us what your mind made up. Could be interesting.

5 times now, bro.

I hope you die in your sleep.
For real.

I don't know what to say OP, but I want to say something nice and sympathetic. Not that you need sympathy. To me, your lifes are perfect.
I hope it never ends for you.
(I was going to post an image but I figured that may interfere.)

Why not challenge yourself to do something novel in real life so you can expand your dream life?
How can you explore a world you do not even know exists? Why not go on a real life trip to someplace exotic and then move there in dream time?

OP's world is the real world.
This is the dream.
PROVE ME WRONG

FOR LITERALLY I MEAN LITERALLY!!

No, you're right
The matrix has us

Ok just read through all of your posts, Sleepguy, and there's one thing I'd like for you to go over in more detail: watching movies in the dreamworld. I'm not saying you're a troll, but you're not giving us enough information here.
You literally sit for 90 or so minutes watching a movie, so does your dream consciousness actually go through every line of dialogue? Every cough and sip of the straw and crunch of the popcorn?
You might not see many movies in the dreamworld, but tell us a few of their plots, characters, etc etc. This would be the perfect gauge for how fuzzy your dream consciousness and dream memory is. Please don't skim, but lay out all the details you can remember from a few dream movies.
Thanks.

Sleep well, Sleepguy.

But really, you are playing along. You're living a lie your mind made up to deal with your accident. Pathetic if you think about it.

F**k you anonymous stop messing up

I know someone's already said it, BUT
I kinda want to use your story in a novel I'm writing!
A while ago I had a very intense dream about a girl, and though my dreams are random situations that jump around (let's just say my dreams are pretty erratic), that girl was always there! It was like The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in some ways, but in my own flavor.
I got an idea for a novel from it: a young man or teenager starts dreaming about a girl who becomes real to him. It touches on all sorts of metaphysical themes. (copyright: me; f**k you guys)
Anyways, your condition is not only fascinating irrespective of the dream I had, but in lieu of my dream I think your situation is even more intriguing. I mean, your dream world is real to you and I find that awesome because my dream world is always like the bad salvia trip I once had - chaotic and hard to understand. I wonder what's going on up in your head. It's just so fascinating.
DESPITE MY COMMON SENSE I am attaching my email to this post. Please email me when you wake up. I want to be in regular contact with you. You're incredible.

OP's story is pretty much out there already:
The Circle Trilogy by Ted Dekkar

I have never heard of this before. Wikipedia says nothing about a continuous dream world.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypersomnia

Fascinating story, Sleepguy, many thanks for sharing it.
Now, neither world is more real than the other, but you already know that.
Actually, everyone here is living multiple simultaneous lives in different worlds, that's just how the system works. Being aware of that fact, like you are OP, is a rare boon.
This guy, see pic, explained it all. His books should also be available in your "main" reality, in one form or the other. Check them out if you can ("The Unknown Reality" is the one covering this topic).
Happy lives, man.

Ask a guy who literally lives in a fantasy world, anything.
So yeah, I thought you guys might be interested in my live(s).

did u know u can watch the neverending story on netflix for INSTANTLY
also, in my dreams, the only reaaaally reoccuring thing is controlled flight, hovering (my point of view levitates and it is the BEAST)

Best thread on anonymous in AGES.
I wonder why Sleepguy chose that pic to start the thread...

youve posted this before, a few weeks ago.

I'm sure the concept isn't original but I had my own take on it. But thanks for the info - I'll look those books up and see what that author did :]

For what it's worth: Seth != Jane
"To me, it is almost inconceivable that, from your position, any of you seriously consider that the existence of your exquisite consciousness can possibly be the result of a conglomeration of chemicals and elements thrown together by a universe accidentally formed, and soon to vanish. So much more evidence is available to you: the order of nature; the creative drama of your dreams, that project your consciousness into other times and places; the very precision with which you spontaneously grow, without knowing how, from a fetus into an adult; the existence of heroic themes and quests and ideals that pervade the life of even the worst scoundrel - these all give evidence of the greater context in which you have your being."
Seth - The Individual and the Nature of Mass Events

Ask a guy who literally lives in a fantasy world, anything.

What was the accident that happened when you were 17. You walked under a low bridge and bumped your head?

OP, you would be a neuroscientist's wet dream. Have you contacted local universities?
I don't believe you because how you discuss your dreams goes against all science of conscious dreaming. If what you say is true it would be worth looking into scientifically.
fyi i think you are lying but its a fun thread either way

yeah i don't buy this, sorry to doubt you OP but the sh*t you are describing is pretty ridiculous and I have never ever heard of anything remotely like this. although this is most likely a troll it has been pretty interesting, 10/10
of course i'll eat my words if we get a timestamped pic of a padded floor room

Bumping for this night before I go to bed. Better hear from OP overnight. He's due to wake up in a few hours.

Oh Sleepyguy, where for art thou Sleepyguy?

I honestly dont even care if this was a massive troll.
Lets say it is a troll, the complexity of it is sheer brilliance and for that sleepguy you should be congratulated.
However, if this is in fact not a troll I have something for you to answer on your hopeful return.
A common phenomenon in dreams is 'this man'. 'This man' is said to have appeared in many peoples dreams all around the world. Check it out when you have time, lets us know whether or not you have seen him. (thisman.org)
I think a common question that people have been asking is the detail of the movies you dream.
For now get some rest beloved Sleepguy, I will be hear when you wake up.

this thread was stupid, obvious troll and not that interesting.

Troll or not, that's not the point.
Here we have a fascinating tale, a strange mixture of deep loneliness and unfathomable happiness, told with great simplicity.
I don't care if it's real or not.
Also, bump.

Both of your lives sound pretty sh*t.
Enjoy playing pretend.

Wow, I'm glad I stopped to read this thread. I always wondered what it'd be like to have an actual dream life.
Hopefully Sleepguy will return and answer more questions.

Sounds like a glorious existence.

Isn't time for him to be back already?

I do believe we've been duped!

I just wanna say that I didn't get an email from Sleepguy either.
So far, nothing.

Bump, 'cause maybe this is not a troll

Awesome thread.
Interesting that Sleepguy's dreams are more important to him than reality, because he spends more time there.

If there was a hell it would be like this guys life.
Kinda reminds me of that pokemon creepy pasta

OP will now have a furry sex dream tonight.
Manually

Thank god that this thread has been successfully archived. This is easily the most awe-inspiring thing I've ever seen on web.
Sleepyguy, if you are real, it would be incredible to have a professional psychoanalysis done of you; I'm certain if would be fascinating.

What's amazing about Sleepguy/OP is that it doesn't even matter if he's real or not. Anyone could make this story up, come here, and post it.. but it seems plausible enough that I'm believing it to be real anyhow - just like how in his dreams, NY is an island chain and John Carlberg is president.
Is his dream-world any less valid than our "real world?"

>Is his dream-world any less valid than our "real world?"
No.
F**k off.

I lucid dream, not for as long as OP of course and probably not always as vividly, however there have been times in which I've woken up in the dream in my bedroom on the bed, and had to spend a few minutes sneaking around the house and checking things out because despite being completely aware, I couldn't tell if I was actually awake or not and didn't want to start running down the street naked.
It's that real, it's amazing, you fa**ots should try it.
The first time I reached that level of lucidity, I freaked out and woke up, and I don't have any dream world like OP, I don't think many lucid dreamers do, you can just do whatever you feel like.
To think that he does this 20 hours a day and maintains an entirely different reality inside his head isn't that much of a stretch, but it is an amazing concept. Freaky stuff.

You're a fa**ot.
>everyone who believes this third rate fanfic is a moron and this thread is as dumb as the people who frequent this website

>Is his dream-world any less valid than our "real world?"
No.
F**k off.

If we die in our reality, our reality continues for our friends.
We'll never know the fate of his dream-world friends once he passes, as he's the only bridge to that world we have.

Prove out reality is real.

That is what every Lucid Dreamer who will just stop f**king or flying around for 5 minutes will discover. The "dream" reality is as real as our "common" reality.
Reading this last sentence achieves nothing, but experiencing that is something else.

The only thing that I find shatters the reality barrier on his being just as real as this one are several things:
1. In dreams when I have to piss, I'm not ever releaved until I wake up. OP may piss himself in his sleep. Same goes for sh*tting.
2. When I am hungry and dreaming I am eating, it is also not sated.
3. I don't have wet dreams anymore like a little boy.

The problem is that unlike you, I'm not a homosexual.

A few clarifications ; you could say that there is two main types of realities:
- Objectives realities, like ours and Sleepguy's world, where a certain number of consciousness subscribe to more or less the same flow of information
- Subjectives realities, consciousness's natural habitat, more or less private to one consciousness, but as valid a any Objective reality (and maybe more)
As a rule, when we dream, we enter a subjective reality, we return home for a while, we take a breather. This is of course much more complex than that.
Now, Sleepguy seems to go to another objective reality more or less similar to ours when he goes to sleep.

I watched a TV show about this when I was a kid.

Well, nice to chat with you, but I need to wake up now and eat something. I'll be back in four hours, see ya.

wtf ? maybe not op

NO ANON YOU ARE THE DREAM
And then Anon was an electrical impulse.

I think it's more interesting that, though he knows he is living in a dream world, he continues to work for a living and have the regular struggles, by either conciously desiring it or because it is so ingrained in him that it became part of the world.
I'm suprised that he just doesn't spend all his dreaming time on web.

So... everyone just get godtier trolled or what? Is anyone still reading the thread?

NO ANON YOU ARE THE DREAM
And then Anon was an electrical impulse.

But we already are electrical impulses. If you accept that there is no random, then we have no free will and you're left with a deterministic universe. In that case, there is no difference for us whether or not we are the product of someone else's dream.

Contribute to the economy by penning a book on your life, you'll help out your real- err, dream- life and get tons of cash to fuel your strange body.
I want to read this :3

It's much easier being a schizoid.

It would be interesting if Sleepguy died in his dreams and all his dreams from then on where just darkness.

What a fascinating story, OP. I can't say I'm not envious of you. I'm looking forward to hearing more!

Are we letting this go now?

Are we letting this go now?

HELL NAW

No your life is not interesting. It's sh*tty and sad as the next guy.

This was the most awesome thread ever, even if OP was just roleplaying.
Goddammnit, bump.

OP's full of sh*t, but it was entertaining anyway.

can someone give me a summary of this f**king thread?

dude got girlfriend and job and all kind of sh*t in his dreams. its his real life to him.

Well, nice to chat with you, but I need to wake up now and eat something. I'll be back in four hours, see ya.

This wins: best of thread

What I wonder is how much more utopian his dream world is than our normal dreaming. Apparently, he's got a job and a girl that make him happy.. but what do you suppose are the odds that he gets laid off, or she cheats on him or (for the non-misogynists) contracts cancer?
In a subtle way, wouldn't he have seen that coming? If the dream-world is a product of his imagination, would a negative event such as his girl dying be due to his subconscious "wishing" it? Or instead, because he "expects" things like this to happen (based on the information he's experienced from our reality)?

maybe he forgot about us :(

Here is a trick I use, as a lucid dreamer, to know if a person I meet is a real consciousness or just a construct of the system. Sleepguy could use it on his girlfriend, if he dares (not sure that's a good idea, though).
Catch the person off guard with a question like "are you a real person ?". The construct will instinctively access the information that it is not, which will conflict with the basic "programming" rule that it is. The person will then stand motionless, silent and wide-eyed for a while. After a few seconds, it will resume its activities and forget about your question.

Submit yourself to be studied. Let something good come out of this.

How does one flip pancakes in a fantasy world?

YOU DIE IN THE GAME, YOU DIE IN REAL LIFE!

While I've never been able to lucid dream for more than a couple seconds without coming awake entirely, I know what it's like to have a coherent dreamworld... Although my dreams are the normal kind of meandering, searching mishmashes of daily life that everyone else has, since I was a kid there's been a kind of coherent dreamworld that they all take place in, quite different from the real world - maybe some locales are similar, but overall it really feels like a different place, with different architecture, ecosystem, geographic layout, etc.
The problem is I've never had very vivid dreams; recently, for example, I looked across a valley at the dream version of a field that used to be near my house and I could see the slow process of visually constructing the scene, as my brain slowly added definition to hazy areas when I thought about them. I have a kind of tunnel vision while I sleep - the only objects that really feel real are the ones I'm directly interacting with or observing, and the general scene usually lacks definition, fades in and out, and changes when I'm not looking at it.
I often wake up from a really evocative and emotional dream, my head filled with strange aesthetic feelings I could never describe in words, knowing that I'll forget the details in a few seconds as I rouse to wakefulness, wishing that my subconscious invention was more complete and lasting. I could definitely imagine the dreamworld solidifying and becoming more real, and actually choosing to spend time there if I could.

Keeping this alive til OP returns.
In the meantime, anyone got a tips on how to lucid dream? very vividly etc..

he's not coming back, man

When ever I ask that of dream people they insist they are and give me a look like I'm crazy like any real person would

Sleepguy! Random morbid thought here!
How do you feel about death and your world?
Like what happens if you dream you die? Suppose it's like the matrix, and you will actually die, how do you want to go?

I think he's gone for good ;~;

This should have been on /x].

I want to be there when your dream world crumbles and you wake up to realize you live on a sh*tty padded floor, with a body that's failing you, with no aim in life, and no one who cares about you.
Then i'll look forward to seeing you go back to sleep, only to wake up again 20 hours later having had no dreams at all.

Assuming your concious thoughts are faster then your brain... WHICH THEY'RE NOT!

okok, so this guy even eats in his dreams, very understandable.
but he doesn't go to the toilet and stuff does he? and can he get drunk??

Going further..
Does he sleep in his dreams?
Does he dream in his dreams?

What if, OP is living out a Truman show.
They wait until he goes to sleep then drag him to the studio, like the one in the Truman show, and he's not actually sleeping.
Also, don't take this seriously, but it would be cool though

Uh...
How about we make him give out personal info and then anon can pinpoint him and go visit him.
If real, anonymous gets new king.
