Backlash against atheism

Why is it that atheists constantly go on and on about how Christians are all out to convert the world and will try to assault and take over any non-believers mind at any chance they can get, and yet...
I have not once, in my entire life EVER seen someone get solicited by a Christian, but I can't even begin to count the number of times I have watched atheists attack and insult religious people and try to prove to them that their god isn't real at every chance they can get.
Any atheists want to defend themselves? Because I'm fed up with you guys trying to convert everyone.

You've never seen a Jehovah's Witness? Do you live on a private island?

You've never seen a Jehovah's Witness? Do you live on a private island?

Only in movies.

Wtf? You're kidding, right?

come to the deep south.

The word you're looking for is trolling.

OP still lives with his parents in his cozy suburbs.

You've never seen a Jehovah's Witness? Do you live on a private island?

Jehovah's Witnesses aren't Christian.
They don't believe that Jesus is God's son.

OP still lives with his parents in his cozy suburbs.

Yeah, just wait till he moves to Detroit or New York. They'll chew him up good. One night, when he's sitting outside, having a little party, we'll roll by and pelt him with crosses. That'll show that little f**ker.
ALPHA AND OMEGA FO LYFE.

This post smells like bullsh*t

Jehovah's Witnesses aren't Christian.
They don't believe that Jesus is God's son.

I'm pretty sure they fall under the "Christian" category anyway, like the Mormons, despite the theological differences.
But OK, substitute *generic local evangelical group* and it works just as well.

Jehovah's Witnesses aren't Christian.
They don't believe that Jesus is God's son.

you've got it the other way around bro. JWs believe that jesus is god's son; everyone else believes jesus IS god.

you've got it the other way around bro. JWs believe that jesus is god's son; everyone else believes jesus IS god.

No no other Christians believe that Jesus is both simultaneously God's son and God in human form.
It never really made sense to me.

Technically it's true. Christianity (large umbrella term) requires the belief that Jesus is the Son of God, died, and was resurrected.
That's it, technically - but many Christ "cults" dont follow even that.

Christian here, I have no clue what you're talking about

No no other Christians believe that Jesus is both simultaneously God's son and God in human form.
It never really made sense to me.

It STILL doesn't make sense to me. Exhaustion from trying to bridge the logic gaps is partly what did me in and caused me to convert to Atheism.

No no other Christians believe that Jesus is both simultaneously God's son and God in human form.
It never really made sense to me.

If it made sense, faith would be unnecessary.

Troll thread.
I live in Commiefornia, but have never witnessed a militant atheist in action. I have, however, lost my best friend in the whole world because she couldn't convert me. I never discussed religion with her at all, and I never even told her I was an atheist because I knew it'd upset her (I think she figured it out anyway). She pretended to be lonely at church gatherings, and then threw a sh*tfit when I'd play along but never actually give a sh*t.

Christian here, I have no clue what you're talking about

trinity. father, son, and holy ghost.
I was raised as a JW. they are definitely christf**s; they just don't believe in the trinity.

It STILL doesn't make sense to me. Exhaustion from trying to bridge the logic gaps is partly what did me in and caused me to convert to Atheism.

You tried to approach spiritual matters through using logic? That's like trying to play a record on a cassette player.

Yeah I get that, the bullsh*t I was noting was that the guy
>implyed that Jehovah's Witnesses don't believe that Jesus was God's son
which is entirely false

...is it no longer okay to just refer to not-Judaism-or-Islam Abrahamic religions as Christian? Because I've never bothered to learn the names of all eleventy billion of them and just call the "the many available flavors of Christians" or something funny like that. Honest to god there are just too many of them to remember.

I was just saying what they taught me at my sh*tty private christian school.

The place was a nice little Hitler youth camp.

I'm an ex-Jehovah's Witness. I'm in an ask-me-anything kind of mood.

Shut up and leave, this is a troll thread to keep the other threads here cleaner.

I'm an ex-Jehovah's Witness. I'm in an ask-me-anything kind of mood.

What's going on with Prince? Ever since you guys got to him, he's been all half-baked.

If you're still here OP, I'm sorry I derailed your mediocre trolling thread.

Eh in general it's good to never trust your basic sunday school teacher to accurately explain dogma to you.
Hell even most priests, if confronted with the apparent ridiculousness of trinitarianism, will respond with "idk it's a mystery lol" - not that there's anything wrong iwth that, it's just that their focuses are pastoral rather than doctrinal.
But you should know that Christian dogma was developed by some very intelligent people who believed in reason and who hammered everything out into a coherent system. You should read them if you're curious (those things I linked are just entry-level, I'm saying go read patristics, which you can find easily online).

I'm going to make a new thread, since this one is dying. I don't know much about Prince. It's just rumors as far as I know, but some people say he's been going to meetings in vegas. But these rumors have been going around for a while, and he did his innuendo at the superbowl a few years ago, which basically convinced most witnesses that he isn't serious about it.

I should add that the Fathers will actually be much easier to read than that Catholic Encyclopedia stuff for the same reason that Plato is easier to read than Heidegger.

Because atheists are f**king idiots. I don't mean "nah I don't believe in god" types, I mean the type who feel the need to start an argument every time they hear the word god.
And also, christians do it more subtly than CHRISTIANITY IS GREAT IT'LL SAVE YOUR LIFE, a lot of it starts with youth groups and community service stuff.
tl;dr most christians are cool people, nearly all atheists are f**king douchebags

If you're still here OP, I'm sorry I derailed your mediocre trolling thread.

I'm not trolling.
I really want to know how someone can have the audacity to claim persecution then go out and persecute.
Whenever there are anti-Christian sentiments about that's a point that always seems to come up, that Christians are horrible people who try to convert everyone, but I've never seen it happen before except when it comes to atheists doing it.

I get asked about once a week at school if I'd like to study the bible.
I always respectfully decline.

this is true in my experience too.
i said "bless you" to a guy who sneezed and he went off at me. needless to say he was a fatass web dwelling neckbeard

I'm more curious about something else:
I've seen Dawkins go on and on and on and on about Christians, Christians, Christians
but I've never seen him even glaze over hardly any other religions, like Islam or Hinduism. They're religions, aren't they? His entire book is just one long not-too-subtle assault on Christianity.
He does talk about other religions, right?

The worst thing about atheists isn't that they're opinionated. I can understand and respect that to a certain degree. It's good to be passionate (though you should really learn to pick your battles).
It's more the fact that they all assume that only a stupid person would choose to be a Christian.
Also the fact that they're usually pretty ignorant about theology and ecclesiastical history but they're always making sweeping statements about both of those things.
And they get really mad at you when you call them on their bullsh*t. They hate to be wrong.
Some atheists aren't like that but a lot of you need to read moar.

Really?
I have been visited numerous times by Christians wanting me to join their stupid organization/group.. Or hand me pamphlets or convince me of some retarded sh*t.

Yet to see someone on web ever say that line except with the no switched to an a.
Thanks for proving my point bro, and please stop trying to convert me.

he goes on about Muslims a little bit but not as much.
Maybe he lives in a tall building

that is because you are samef**ging

you wish. sagef**. hey maybe it was you who went off at me.
Oh and JoHos and Mormons are not considered Christian by mainstream Christian groups. Its like the one thing Catholics and Church of England agree on lol

Still curious guys, I read maybe half of his book and it seems like he just swaps the word "Christian" for "theist" and goes with it. Much of what he says can literally not apply to any other religion but Christianity.

I see, thank you.

Well, I've had a christian friend tell me that it's his 'duty' to make me see the way of the lord and save my soul.

>Hinduism
Well, of course. Nobody debating/bawwwing over religion EVER says anything about us, unless you count that one chick tract.

Look OP, there is no god. Face it.

So much wisdom in one simple sentence. I admire you anon.

I've been solicited by Christians a few times--
Weirdos passing out Chick tracts and telling everybody they were going to hell via loudspeaker in front of a local university
Freaky, glassy-eyed weirdos passing out anti-abortion pamphlets in front of my university
And finally, Mormans coming to my door and giving me the Book of Mormon for free. These guys were actually the coolest, they just asked me if I was Mormon, I said no, they gave me the book, said it was free, and then just GTFO'd. It would have been more annoying if they'd knocked in the early morning or something, but since they came at a decent time of day I didn't mind too much.
I haven't been solicited by atheists IRL, though I do remember them setting up this little kiosk at a function my university had. They weren't too annoying, but not exactly low-key.
Never been solicited by Jews, or hindus though, so just going on those I'd say they're less annoying than both the atheists and the Christians.

Preach the whole counsel of God. It helps people get into heaven. If you don't do it, you may have their blood on your hands. Preach the whole counsel of God. IT HELPS PEOPLE GET INTO HEAVEN!
I have people's blood on my hands, for not striving to preach the whole counsel of God into their lives. Even in the last year. I can think of at least 1 person whose blood could be on my hands.
I think I need to try to preach the whole counsel of God this year, starting with the gospel; the good news of Jesus Christ, the righteousness and salvation He provides and of the majesty of His glory. I haven't yet sorted out what I am to do about this. How to balance the gospel with everything else? Though everything else should spring from and point to the gospel I guess. How to preach the whole counsel of God in normal conversation? Like not focusing too much on predestination/calvinism, but also not focusing too little on them (I still maintain that a view of these issues goes to the sovereignty of God. This affects your whole life.)
When I don't do this, please forgive me. I am still a wretched sinner, and the more you know me, the more you'll see that. I'm just really good at pretending that I'm not. But God is my great and powerful saviour. Any good that you see is grace God has merciful granted to me. If you want to help me, talk to me about God. About how awesome God is. About how He has saved us through Jesus. About how Jesus is coming back again. About how the gospel of Jesus leads to sanctification. About the sovereignty of God. About imputed righteousness.

Proselytism is not an essential part of either of those faiths. In fact, Jewish people passively discourage conversion to their faith.

  1. Why are we even replying to such a poorly-written post? Look at this morons other posts on the right, and decide if this is an opinion worth addressing, whether you want to back it or argue it.

Define 'backlash' you fool. You mean that one time that guy gave on the bus gave his opinion and it somehow suddenly Christians nation-wide are going, "Athiests... GROANNNN", combined with commentary from Dane Cook? Because that's not really backlash. It doesn't really matter if you're not an Athiest... your descendents eventually will be.
