Have you ever recognized somebody on the web?

Let's hear some hopefully awkward stories.
F** mode : Recognizing somebody that you already knew browsed web.
Normal mode : Somebody that you barely know
Hard mode : Somebody that you're close friends with that you didn't know browsed web.
Nightmare mode : Family.

i haven't no, however i fear to put any picture of myself up for that reason, also because most people here are filthy perverts. but tbh it would be pretty cool to recognise someone i knew

No I haven't recognised anyone.

Wasn't there some basement dwelling virgin that recognized nudes of his sister and fapped to them?

I spot my friend occasionally posting on /mu/ but I was already aware he lurks.
Yeah im a f**.

Yeah.
And no I haven't.

Caught a significant other trying to pick up them deviant anonymous wimmen in an AIM hook up thread on more than one account.

I have F**, Hard, and Nightmare mode.
F** mode- I made my best friend slowly into a clone of me, wala web
Hard Mode- my next door neighbor, with the best white-guy afro I've ever seen, goes to /k/ sometimes because he's into guns. Not a hick though, he's really smart and is in nursing school
Nightmare- My uncle, who is in his late 20's, dropped out of school, does car repair, smokes pot. I asked him for some unknown reason if he liked mudkips at my aunt's wedding last summer and we started talking about web. Awkward as f**k

I posted a picture once (I know, I know, I just wanted it drawn since my fa**ot arts major friend won't do it for me), somebody recognized me and name-dropped me.
I think I know who it was, actually met them on here.

F** mode : My best friend Azeru
Normal mode : Some guy at my old high school that is 3 or so years younger than I am
Hard mode : My ex lolz
Nightmare mode : My cousin that is more like a brother to me

Yknow, I've always wondered if this ever actually happens. I've recognised a friend of mine's posts every now and again, but usually on a thread I just linked her to, so it's not exactly surprising (f** mode)
I know a friend of mine read the 'disgusting things girls do' thread, which i posted in, but mercifully he had no way of recognising which was mine (and didn't know I'd posted in it til it was brough up in discussion a day later). Could've been awkward if I'd accidentally dropped in something that could've identified me, though. F** mode cause I knew he was a anon, but still slightly worrying.

I recognised only one person, but I barely know him. If I saw someone I'm really close friends with, I'd be really surprised. And scared.

night terror mode: someone has posted a picture of you

I have a new tier, possibly beyond nightmare mode.
A couple of weeks ago there was a "post the person who got away" thread. I was sitting here, scratching my balls, browsing, as per usual.
Anyway, I spotted my own f**king picture in the thread, followed by someone confessing their love for me.
I raged. I'm pretty sure I know which ex it was, and she left me in a really f**king dark place.
So yeah, I recognised myself on here, after an ex had a good ol' BAWWW about /ME/.

Once when my accomodation was banned I tried to repeal it, not realising anyone there who came here would see my email address. One guy added me on MSN, we got to know eachother, he was a typical beetard. A few weeks later, I saw a thread in /fit/, 99% sure it was him, posting pictures of himself in just his boxers (overweight, very hairy), asking for fitness adviceice, the room he was in had the same kind of layout and bed as mine, and saying he did a sport I knew he did.

supreme f** mode: one of my internet bros knows a tripf** irl

I recognised a camwh**re, but couldn't put my finger on where from. I had a look around facebook and found her, we had quite a few mutual friends so I'd probably seen her at shows and stuff. I messaged her and we started talking.
She spent the weekend just gone with me, picture related.

Boink her mercilessly.

A while ago there was a thread on /co/ complaining about local comic shops, I was complaining about mine, one anon recognised it from the description and gave his msn. We talked once or twice. A few weeks later I was at a friend's party, and I met this guy, after a while I realised it was him, don't think he did the same. Turned out he was friends with people I was friends with, and worked with a girl I used to live with.

OH BABY <3

Normal mode: I see a thread on anonymous and he'll update his status to something regarding it.
Like that thread about Conan going to TBS.
F**king Kyle M

dat sum ninetales?

nope. nobody i know in real life browses web.
there are probably some 14 year old kids in my town who go on bee, but i don't know for sure. at my job at tesco I saw a "FFFFUUUUUU" face on the overtime whiteboard. i lol'd.
I used to work in the game section of the supermarket and I'd just hang out with this one guy. I was speaking to him about /v/ and he just said "Ah, f**king web, sh*tty place" or something. There were probably other guys who worked there that browsed web but none of them were beetards.

Boink her mercilessly.

I have no idea of her whereabouts, plus I have no intention of contacting her.

have had one of my online friends recognise me in a few threads I posted on /tv/ last year, and within a couple days of eachother. Doesn't really happen any more.
Know someone else online who used to be a tripf** but I didn't know her back then.
Recognised two or three other people I know online, but one of them is the typical /v/irgin who talks like he's posting on /v/ or /a/ ALL the f**king time whether it's IRC, IM, facebook or forums.

night terror mode: someone has posted a picture of you

It's a f**king nexus of terror.
F** mode: Some of my friends have retarded writing styles, pretty easy to recognize.
Normal: Kind of disconcerting to hear people at a local music place start spouting memes. I don't know them well, but goddamn.
Hard: When I figured out a friend of mine in high school was a beetard, but that was back in high school. One of the guys in F** mode.
Nightmare: Nope, thank Christ. That would just end badly.

A lot of f**king people I know are aware of web but I have one friend specifically who browses, and I know he comes on anonymous sometimes. I'm not going to say that while browsing I'll suddenly see a post and know it's him, but sometimes we'll link each other notable threads, and we can usually point out each other's posts within those threads. So, I guess that puts me in double fa**ot tier.

Here.
Most of my friends browse the 4... mostly because of me...
I've recognized one of my good friend's posts in a drug thread. Realized he was fighting some heavy demons, talked about it like "bros" (I still feel uncomfortable talking about that since the "bro" subculture infests Southern California).

Also, in the case of the friend that I'm talking about, we both found web together back in high school. We never had some gay moment where one of us said something meme related in public and the other was like "you go on bee too?"

My sisters friend, who happens to be very much f**king underage ban. She started talking about web and I was like OH F**K WE BETTER NOT TALK ABOUT web because my sister had quite a few underage lol.. eh heh.. laugh out loud friends around. But then she asked if I knew a good rick-roll so I don't think she truly understands the beauty (or lack thereof) of this place.

I once got a text from some girl telling me to stop camwhoring on /fa/.
Only I was on the bus..
And I didn't know she was a webner...
Or that I was considered handsome enough for someone to save and post in a GUYS DOING IT RIGHT thread..
T'was a good day.

dat sum ninetales?

Yes. Yes it is some ninetales.

F**, Hard, and Nightmare mode I have.

I saw a f**-camwh**re thread in bee of someone I knew in an mmo. True story.

Nightmare mode - My uncle tripf**s on /cgl/ often and sometimes on /v/. We're like bros anyway so it's all good.

i saw someone i used to go to school with, so i posted his name, he was going crazy, it was lols, and coz he was from like 4 - 5 years ago, he didnt know it was me that was posting, then i started putting his facebook pics in to the thread, it was lols

I randomly found one of my managers showing her shaved pu**y for all to see. She's a fatty too, but she didn't show her nice tits.
She's a bitch and I plan on keeping it just in case I need some leverage.

I saw a guy that makes really hot jacking off and talking dirty videos posting on bee a few weeks ago.
Now I'm afraid to ever cam with him or talk about web because I don't want to end up on there. But.... so hot....

... You can spot her pu**y from a mile away?

Nightmare mode only. My sister, wasn't horrendous though she only browses /a/ and which ever one is the gay cartoon guys so our paths never cross.

have one friend who posts with a trip but I never really see him post, we don't really go to the same boards
have one friend who goes to bee a lot, don't know if he goes to other boards or if he posts or just lurks, he just brags about having several gigs of demotivational images all the time
have one or two other friends who visit regularly, don't know if they post or which boards
have many friends who know 'what' web is but claim they don't visit, and they tend to assume that web=bee

i failed normal mode.
I called her on it, she ignored it.

F** mode: some f**king beetard I knew from high school.
normal mode: See above.
Hard mode: A good buddy of mine, we LOL'd when we found out, though
Nightmare mode: Thank god, no.

Mine's a Hard mode.
He dropped some meme a while ago and it got us talking about bee for a while.
Not awkward, actually kinda awesome.

I recognized a friend camwhoring around her. She denied it until I met her IRL. Such a wh**re.

>*around here.

well seeing as how I get on TC and that place is full of camwh**res, f** mode happens almost daily.
Hard mode: my exs friend used to be lul randumXD and he randomly asked me if I liekd mudkipz and I told him he was a fa**ot, but he's a pretty cool guy.

Does finding nudes of a girl i know count as god mode?

But, how could you possibly recognize someone on an anonymous image board? It's anonymous. I confus

Once saw a guy named Jordan that I know in passing posting a thread here about losing his job with a pic of him in an Electric Six shirt and I was like "LOL WASSUP"

But, how could you possibly recognize someone on an anonymous image board? It's anonymous. I confus

If they post a pic of themselves or very specific personal information that could probably only apply to them, than you recognize them.

But, why, on an anonymous image board, would you post pics/info about yourself? I still confus

I was browsin' bee once and then this appeared in a thread. I know the girl from middle school (apparently that's a long time ago, but still a little fun).

A while ago, my desktop background was Longcat. My older sister walked by and said 'IZ DAT LONGCATLOL?' and so i found out my sister browsed web.

There was this really hot chick who went to Jazz Camp with me, she was friends with a fellow guitarist Shaun. I added her on myspace and there was this amazingly epic bikini shot of her in a red and white polka dot bikini.
>Saved
Never posted it on web though. But holy f**k, anons, the first time I ever went on /r/, on PAGE 1, there was THAT F**KING PICTURE, with "SAUCE?!" attached to the post. I shat brix and epic-delivered with her myspace link.

I didnt think longcat was exclusive to web. Am I mistaken? i still confus.

holy sh*t, she seems very familiar to me too..

I recognized a girl I almost got with in high school. Junior year, new girl in class. Hit on her pretty hard and the week I was gonna ask her out she was missing from class and then came in walked straight to the teacher and gave her some paper. The girl looked straight in my eyes and started welling up, she left the class crying, whispered bye as she walked past my desk, up the aisle, out the door and out of my life. Browsing bee a couple years ago (this being almost 5 years afterwords) saw a one-off thread of just her picture, posted asking if it was her, she responded with 'david?' where david is one of her friends' names and that was the end of thread. I had actually found out what happened to her when she left my high school a few months after and had a chance to speak to her but lost contact for years.
